Mike Macleod
Of Outer-Hebridean ancestral descent and naval parenthood, Mike came to be in 1969, and spent his earliest years living in Hong Kong and latterly in the south of Spain. Educated in the London home counties, he decided to study Information Technology at Brighton university. Then followed three years working in banking in Edinburgh, bolstering his computer skills and gaining useful financial management experience.
With a change of career tack in 1992, Mike decided to move to Madrid, where he stayed for six years learning Spanish, teaching English (TEFL), web designing and tutoring at Spain's very first internet café, La Ciberteca. A return to London in 1998 led to four years running a multimedia company, but the lure of sunny Spain and overseas opportunities resulted in a move to Valencia in 2002. Here Mike co-founded web design outfit, Webroot, together with Ana Santos, his partner in an ecotourism holidays and events organisation, called Light Visions.
After leading three successful eco-holiday tours in Ibiza with Greenheart collaboration, Mike moved to Ibiza in the summer of 2006 to be permanently based at the Greenheart ecological centre, Casita Verde. For 2008 he is managing the Ecotourism project, and its Green Ibiza Tour / Green festival in June. Other Greenheart elements where Mike is involved are Greenmedia, The Carob revival and in the day-to-day management of the ecology centre, Casita Verde.
