Vera appeared at Casita Verde for a Sunday lunch visit with friends at the end of March 2007 and like many others, was so inspired by what she saw there, she asked if there was any possibility to volunteer as a live-in member of the team.
Normally we are very hesitant to accept such young volunteers but although only 16 years old, Vera somehow managed to persuade us to give her a try. The Montessori style education she had received since a small child became imediately evident in all the things that Vera attempted to do and she rapidly became one of the most appreciated volunteer members the centre has received since it began. Most famous for her fantastic cakes and cooking skills, together with her continuously happy attitude, Vera proved that her young age was no handicap in gaining a wholesome respect from all the other members of the home team.
After a visit from Vera's parents, Sabine and Stefan during the final two weeks of her four month stay with us, we decided to continue our connection with this lovely Austrian family and look forwards to receiving more 'Montessori' educated young people from the same part of the world.
Vera returned to Casita Verde in July 2008, for a month and half, where she continued with her multi-tasking skills on site, baking many delicious cakes and breads, painting various buildings, learning how to edit the websites, and was once again an invaluable member of the team in Ibiza.
